Curriculum Design & Development in Nursing Education and Healthcare Training
Course Description
This self-study course provides learning opportunities for healthcare providers and nursing educators to explore theories, standards, and techniques in designing, delivering, and evaluating a curriculum and learning outcomes. Development of curriculum for programs in various education settings is examined. This course focuses on curriculum planning and designs, development of individual courses, structuring and budgeting for a training program, and integrating technologies to align with program mission, objectives, and outcomes.

Course Delivery Method
The course delivery methods include reading materials, audio-visual aids from pre-recorded lectures, and assignments/exercises.
Prerequisite
Recommended prerequisite: Principles of Teaching the Adult Learner. (From Shiny Medical Resources online courses or any other BRN approved teaching principles of at least 30CEH)
Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to:
- Synthesize teaching-learning theories in a nursing or healthcare curriculum design.
- Develop an educational program curriculum for a healthcare or nursing course.
- Integrate the components of performance-centered instruction in a nursing/healthcare curriculum.
- Utilize technology, simulations, and the internet to design and plan a curriculum for nursing, healthcare and/or medical education training.
- Evaluate a program, course, or project.
